Very talented!

Not only is Bertie impeccably well-bred – far better, I have to say, than my lovely husband or me, and, by default, our children (and maybe even their children, though that rather damns their spouses!) – he is incredibly talented.

He’s ten weeks old today and weighs five and a half kilograms, but that’s not the clever bit – anyone can put on weight (don’t I know it?) He retrieves to the manner born – well, he was born to it, son, grandson, great-great grandson, great-great-great . . . you get the general gist, I’m sure - of FTCh (that’s  Field Trial Champion) upon FTCh and FTW (Field Trial Winner) after FTW, national and international, so retrieving is as natural to him as breathing.

The gift he displayed yesterday was that of DANCE! Yes, he’s got rhythm, he’s got music . . . (I feel a touch of Gershwin coming on)

Just look and see if you don’t agree. I have not added music to this sequence (must try that one day) but maybe you have a favourite to which Bertie can execute his steps.
Not, perhaps, a Beautiful Ballerina but definitely a Dashing Dancer!

  1. Beautiful header yourself. Beautiful puppy as well.

Nice to meet you. I had to leave Karen's BBQ on Friday and not return because of all the food. I was so hungry just reading about it all. Great time though, fun thing to do.

  5. Bertie is so adorable!! I think he'd be successful on the TV show we have here in the US, "So You Think You Can Dance!" I realize he'd have to have a human waving his colorful doggy toy there on stage with him.

    He looks velvety and snuggly.

  7. Oh, I love a dancing dog! Bertie is VERY talented.
Our Lindy can be heard tap-dancing on the kitchen floor when she wants vegetables. If we don't respond within her time-frame, she might let out a woof, which she knows is not allowed. She can bark at the door to the deck, to be let out, but not when asking for food.
Bertie, however, seems to dance just for the love of it. A champion in agility, as well as at the field trials, I'll bet.
"Star of Stage and Countryside, the one, the only, the great... Bertie!" (Sound of applause and the roar of the crowd.)

  8. Adorable. Overload. Commencing!

SO cute. I love puppies, but find adult dogs terrifying. Which really stinks! If only there was a way to stunt their growth...

  13. Oh, I love these pictures so much. You are so obviously as much a dog person as I am. I must say my dogs don't dance though, so I have a touch of 'sour grapes' in that regard! Keep your pictures and stories coming.

  18. Bertie the Ballerina! These are such great shots. I can tell the difference between Buster and Bertie by just looking at his face. He's a winner alright!

  19. Clever little Bertie! It is also a measure of the time and efforts you must have had to sacrifice. And the patience, too! It is worth it!

  22. Bertie has some great dance moves. I wonder if he would consider Dancing With The Stars if they were to call? He would be a natural.
