Rugby World Cup 2011 New Zealand

The Rugby World Cup 2011 begins today in NewZealand. The first match is between Tonga and New Zealand and audiences were treated to two heart-stirring hakas, the first from Tonga, followed by New Zealand. One Tongan player was seen to say, 'That was good!'

The first clip is of the All Blacks in 2006 with accompanying explanation. Turn up the volume and feel the vibrations!

The second clip is also from 2006 and shows the All Blacks and the Tongans performing their hakas before the start of the game.

  1. Oh joy - a haka! I took every opportunity to watch it in New Zealand - I know it's meant to be terrifying but I think it is designed to stir the juices of all the women on the opposite side.

Thank you for this - you have made my Friday!

  3. I'll never stay in your top-10 commenters if I have to say something intelligent about rugby. Scares the wits out of me, all that mud and blood and all.
